REPORT: GHOSTS FROM THE PAST
FILE #: 413

The episode opens at night at the Centre. Angelo is laying on the floor and starts repeating "Jarod, danger, hate, destroy." He then starts chanting the words to a song and scratches a cross on the wall. It cuts to Westland Community church in Georgia where two young African-American girls are singing the song Angelo is chanting. The church is to be the site of a Unity Rally. Their father, Pastor Malcolm Jones comes in and they leave the church. A racist group wearing stockings on their heads that proceed to terrorize father and daughters, vandalize the church and burn a cross on the lawn confronts them. Afterwards, they pull off their stockings, and one of the men is Jarod.

At the Centre Sam brings Miss Parker, Broots and Sydney to where Angelo is going through the materials Jarod used in past pretends. Through listening to Angelo, Sydney deduces someone from Jarod's past is trying to kill him.

At the racists' compound, the men learn their leader, the General, will be arriving early and have a new plan for the Unity Rally involving C4 explosives. They are under orders not to leave the compound.

Back at the Centre, Sydney tells Miss Parker and Broots, that Angelo senses that someone Jarod brought to justice wants to kill him. Miss Parker states "it's a hell of a long line, and it starts behind me." Angelo holds up a dress and we see a flashback to Kristy in "Someone to Trust". Angelo says it's not Kristy. Sydney realizes he's eliminating people one by one. They realize if they can successfully identify the person, they could catch Jarod.

At the compound, Jarod is fixing the explosive and listening to the racist members rant. He flashes back to when he was a child watching Martin Luther King news clips and asking Sydney about racism. Jarod wants to place the explosive himself, but is told the General wants to use it to blow up the preacher's daughters.

At the Centre, Angelo is holding up the gun used by Joey Melino, in "A Stand Up Guy". He says the hate is getting closer to Jarod. He also holds up the plates used by Joey to make the counterfeit money. He then eliminates Joey.

At the compound, Jarod sneaks out of the cabin and tries to leave in a car, but is stopped by Luke, one of the head racists. He is told again that no one leaves until the General arrives. The other men come out and tell them that the General just found out that one of the men in the group is a traitor.

The night before the rally, the Jones girls are praying and ask their father why people hate them. He replies that people hate because they are afraid of things they don't' know.

Angelo is wearing night goggles and is empathing Capt. Robert Saunders from "Survival." Angelo states it's not him, that someone hates Jarod more. Angelo tells Broots to hurry; he pulls him to a trunk and pulls out large netting. He holds up the netting, says "hates Jarod" then says "hates Miss Parker too". Miss Parker is stunned.

The General arrives. Jarod leaves the room to empty the trash as the General enters and greets his men. The men state they are here to help identify the traitor. Jarod walks back in. The General turns out to be a man called Bartlett from the episode "Keys". Bartlett immediately recognizes Jarod as the traitor. Flashbacks show Bartlett trapped in the same netting that Angelo was holding. Bartlett beats Jarod to the ground.

Back at the Centre, Angelo is swinging in the net the way Bartlett was as Miss Parker explains how Jarod caught Bartlett in the hurricane. Angelo identifies Bartlett as the man who wants to kill Jarod. Miss Parker tells Broots to check to see if he's still in jail. She calls Bartlett a 'racist sleazebag who would kill his own mother. She says "We have to find him. If Bartlett finds Jarod first, he will kill him. And ruin my chances."

Bartlett has Jarod tied up on the floor. He decides to kill Jarod. Luke offers to do it for him. He tells him to take him to the creek and shoot him. Luke pushes Jarod into the creek and on his knees. The scene cuts to Bartlett sitting in a chair having a drink. He hears a gunshot and smiles.

Luke didn't kill Jarod. He tells him he's undercover with the Georgia State Police and unties him. Jarod says he's with ATF. Luke wants to stop Bartlett now, but Jarod says they need to catch him in the act. Jarod cuts his arm, puts blood on his shirt and sends Luke back with it as evidence.

The General looks at the bomb Jarod made and realized it was rigged so it wouldn't go off. He fixes it. Luke offers to plant it, but Bartlett turns him down and leaves with the bomb.

Miss Parker is in her office remembering the first time she met Jarod. She also remembers the scene in Keys where Jarod tells her he always remembered the girl who gave him his first kiss. And she remembers the kiss itself. Broots comes in and tells her Bartlett was freed from jail on a technicality, and is head of a white supremacist group and the rumor is that he is in Georgia to interfere with the unity Rally. They head off for it.

Bartlett enters the church with the bomb. Jarod confronts him. Bartlett shoots, but the bullets were replaced with blanks. Jarod beats him unconscious with a bat. He wakes up tied to a cross. Jarod wants him to experience terror. Jarod pours gasoline around the bottom of the cross. Bartlett tells him he doesn't have the heart for it, but "the bitch you were with before, she could do it. Jarod replies" it's not heart I need to burn you at the stake, it's another part of my anatomy and let me tell you, I got those." Jarod reveals Bartlett wasn't smart as he had two undercover men in his group. Jarod lights a fuse at Bartlett's feet. It lights up the word "repent" at the top of the cross. Jarod picks up some marshmallows, toasts them, tells Bartlett he "doesn't have the heart to kill, or the hate."

The next day the Rally is in full swing. The girls are singing the same song with the choir. The congregation is filled with equal amounts of black and whites. Miss Parker, Broots and Sydney show up. Pastor Jones greets them at the back of the church. They show him Jarod's picture, state that he was involved with Bartlett and ask if they've seen him. He denies knowing Jarod and states that Bartlett is in the State Penitentiary. Miss Parker replies "I hope they fry his ass this time." Pastor Jones states: "Well ma'am, it's my hope and prayer, that one day Bartlett would choose to end that life of hate and start the healing that only love and forgiveness will bring." That seems to get to Miss Parker as she says "Better pray for all of us". The pastor says "God Bless you". They leave realizing Jarod isn't there. We see Miss Parker, Sydney and Broots walk to the car and then the scene cuts away with a shot of Jarod on the roof of the church swaying to the rhythm of the music.
