REPORT: GRAND MASTER
FILE #: PRO. 319

The Profiler segment starts in the mental institution, before the families of the two Joshua’s have arrived… both wake a 3 a.m., get out of bed, remove a false molar from their mouth with a pill in it, break the pill in their teeth, and die…. at the same exact moments.

Sam is at the mental institution; Grace tells her that the “Joshua’s died within minutes of one another. Sam says it is like they are some sort of internal clock. Bailey is concerned about it and Sam tells them that she thinks “Father” planned their captures and deaths.

Bryce and his father are in Bryce’s room, arguing over a chess move. Bryce is sure he knows where to go but his father doesn’t want him to take risks. Bryce tells his father he just wants to play for a while. Philip Banks tells him he can if he wants to lose at the tournament.

Sam calls Jarod from the mental institution to tell him that she needs to talk to talk to him about Bryce Banks. Sam goes to the Banks House to ask Bryce a few questions. Sam is voicing her concern that Bryce may have been subjected to suggestive thoughts. Mr. Banks tells her that Bryce is too intelligent for that, and Sam informs him that the smartest people are the ones that take in the suggestions. Mrs. Banks wants her to talk to Bryce and Mr. Banks givens in.

Sam goes into see Bryce and he tell her to sit down. She asks him if he is having nightmares or if he remember having to play any sort of games. Bryce says that he was left alone most of the time, which is a lie. That he didn’t see the man who took him except for meals. He does tell her that he remembers a lot of bright lights and loud music, like a rock concert under water.

Sam is getting into her car, and a man is getting into the passenger seat…. Jarod! He tells her that she is hard to get a hold of and she tells him that he is as well. Jarod says that he got her message. He asks how Bryce is and she tells him he appears to be okay. He tells her that is only half of an answer. She says she is not sure how he is. Jarod and Sam are worried that this “Father” will try to contact Bryce. Sam informs Jarod that Bryce’s parents took his modem. Jarod tells her that it might not be enough. Sam then asks why Jarod doesn’t have a phone line at Atlanta PD. He tells her that he is a field worker. She is sure that he would have a phone. He says that he does the best work in the field. Sam asks why this case is so important to him. He tells her he is devoted and she tells him that that is only half an answer. Jarod gets out of the car and tells her that he will be in touch. When Jarod is gone Sam calls George, asking him to find out anything he can on a Jarod Doyle of the Atlanta PD. George agrees.

Bryce goes downstairs to check the mail. He notices something for him and proceeds to open it. It is a card with a picture of a hummingbird on it. This makes Bryce changing.

Mr. Banks is talking about moving and Mrs. Banks is telling him that Bryce needs stability especially now. Mrs. Banks tells Mr. Banks that she thinks they are losing Bryce and that he should spend some time with Bryce maybe playing basketball. Mr. Banks tells her that he hates the game and she tells him that Bryce loves it. He gets the hint.

Mr. Banks is outside with the basketball in hand calling for Bryce to come out and “make baskets” with him. There is no answer from Bryce nor does Bryce come out. Mr. Banks yells out Bryce’s name and Bryce room explodes into flames. Mr. Banks runs towards Bryce’s room screaming his name.

Sam is looking through the rubble left after the explosion. John is saying that by the looks of the blast pattern it was probably a plastic explosive of some sort. Bailey says that maybe Bryce because a liability to “Father” when Bryce was removed from his control. Sam says that it is assuming that Bryce was out of his control. Sam picks up a chess piece, the king, and says that this whole thing is not nearly over.

A man is sitting in his Livingroom watching a news report about… -Thirteen-year-old Bryce Banks was killed when his room exploded. There is a knock on the door and the man turns the television off and answers the door. Bryce is at the door and the man asks if he had a good trip. Bryce doesn’t say anything. The man tells Bryce, “Son, welcome home.”

John goes to the Banks’ home and tells them that there were no signs of human remains in Bryce’s room. Mrs. Banks becomes upset that Bryce was taken again and says that she can’t take it. John tells them that they will be taping their phones and that they will watch the house… the usual stuff. Mr. Banks seems to be acting different. He wonders out loud who set the bomb in Bryce’s room.

At VCTF, Sam answers the question. She thinks that it was Bryce himself. He may not have known what he was doing at the time but he may have done it. George informs them that there was a $60 withdrawal in Raleigh, North Carolina from one of the Banks accounts. George asks if David Koresh called himself “Father” and Bailey says yes that many cult leaders over the years have. Sam says that this isn’t cult related. “Father” is not interested in a following only Bryce.

The man and Bryce are playing Basketball (one-on-one). Bryce wins and the man tells Bryce that he shouldn’t have spotted him those five points. He asks Bryce what he wants to do now. Bryce asks if he can do anything and the man tells him yes. Bryce says that he thinks they should get their work done first. The man tells him that if that’s what he wants to do them okay… Joshua…. “Father”????

George tells Sam that the day before the explosion Bryce hacked his way into CIA, NSA, and CID databases. He may have stolen something and it would be worth a lot. George says that he tries to follow Bryce but then he runs into walls that he can’t get past. George says that the Atlanta PD’s is not so hard, however. He has the information Sam requested on Jarod Doyle. George says that he checks out. Sam is surprised that there is nothing wrong with his file… but George says if anything it is too perfect. He tells him that Jarod has never had overtime and that a cop who doesn’t put in for OT is not American.

Sam goes to Jarod’s apartment to talk to him. Jarod tells her that he is glad that she is there cause he found something. She asks if he has been putting in overtime. He tells her yes. She says that isn’t like you. He says, “You read my file.” Sam-“You knew I would.” Jarod-“You can’t take anything at face value.” Sam-“Depends on the face.” Sam then tells him that she knows he is not a cop. Jarod says that he bends the rules a bit but it is to help. He tells her that he has information that might help if she would care to hear it. She sits down and listens. He tells her that the pills that were in the “Joshua’s” teeth were perfected in the 70’s by the CIA. Sam tells him that Bryce broke into the CIA database. Jarod wants to follow his track but Sam informs him that they hit walls. Jarod tells her that he is good with walls he just needs a pass code. She says, “What happened to Bryce. It happened to you. You were kidnapped.” Jarod tells her that when he was very young he was taken from his parents and he still remembers the feeling of aloneness and being scared. So now when he comes across anyone who is trapped he helps them out no matter what it takes… no matter what. Sam reaches into her purse taking out a disk… she hands it to Jarod saying here is your pass code.

Bryce/Joshua is on the computer looking though files on the CIA database. Bryce/Joshua asks about his “brothers”. “Father” tells him that they will be home soon. Bryce/Joshua is shocked to find what he is looking for and “Father” comes around to see. “Father” asks what the man looks like now. Bryce/Joshua pulls the info up showing the man now. Bryce/Joshua asks if it is his friend and him “Father”. “Father” whispers ‘hummingbird’ in Bryce/Joshua’s ear and it has the same reaction… it changes him.

Bryce/Joshua is in a building. He sees the man that “Father” was looking for and follows him into the elevator, where he puts a package down and then leaves the elevator. As Bryce/Joshua is leaving the elevator explodes and Bryce seems shocked.

Sam and Bailey are at the scene of the explosion and they view the security footage and see that Bryce didn’t realize what he had done until it was far too late.

At VCTF, John tells them that the explosion also severed the cable… so if the explosion didn’t kill them then the fall did. There were 10 bodies and one was the target. Bailey wants to know which one.

Bryce/Joshua and “Father” are playing foosball and “Father” wins. “Father” realizes that Bryce/Joshua is upset about the bombing and “Father” apologizes for not telling him what was in the bag. Bryce/Joshua thought that the other man was his friend and “Father” says yes and he betrayed us. “Father” tries to cheer Bryce/Joshua up by showing him a basketball arcade game that he got. Bryce/Joshua notices the picture of and young boy… “Father” says that it was his son Joshua and that he was lost to his work… but that he won’t ever lose Bryce/Joshua.

George has the people who died in the explosion on the elevator identified and on the computer screen. Bailey wonders if any of them are ex-military. George searches their files and tell him that none of them have military pasts. Grace comes in saying that she has some info for them. She gives George the disk and he pulls it up onto the screen. They focus in on a Samson Delaway. Grace says that Delaway’s records say that he has a near perfect pair of chops. But the body she examined has 7 cavities and a sever overbite.

Sam figures that Samson Delaway is not his real name. Bailey asks to see Sam privately. Sam agrees and they go to her office. Bailey tells Sam that he wants to give the case to the CIA. He knows a spook operation when he sees one. She tells him that they will be leaving Bryce to the spooks that may not get to him. Bailey asks who Jarod is? She tells him that Jarod is a detective that is helping. Bailey doesn’t believe that Jarod is trying to help.

Bailey and Sam return to the briefing room and George tells them that they just received an anonymous e-mail and there is no way to know who it was from. Bailey insinuates that they know who sent it – Jarod. George pulls up the info which is a picture of Samson Delaway better known as Stephen Osgood… who was part of a CIA project called “Hummingbird”. Project Hummingbird was trying to make a better soldier… a more efficient killing machine… using mind manipulation. The senor researchers on the project were Maxwell Creighton, Emery Sacks, Lewis Holmburg… then Stephen Osgood and Ronald Dain. So they can remove Osgood cause he is dead. And Dain died ten years earlier from cancer. That only leaves the top three guys. Sam knows that one of them won’t die cause one of them is the killer.

Two men meet in a parking lot. They are in the car talking about “him” saying that he said he would get revenge and know Osgood is dead. There is someone watching them from behind a fence. We see that it is “Father”. Father pulls out his cell phone and it makes a sound like it is connecting to the internet. Then the car with the two men in it explodes into a ball of fire. “Father” seems pleased with himself.

Sam & Bailey are informed that it was Sacks and Holmburg in the car. Sam says that the only one left is Creighton. John tells them that at the mini-mart down the street the girl said that she saw a dark car go past right after the explosion. Bailey wants to know if she saw the man or license plate. John says that she was far into her six pack so they are lucky that she saw the car. Sam says that she will update the profile on Creighton.

Sam is at Jarod’s place. Sam is puzzled why “Father” would want a 13yr old. Jarod shows Sam x-rays that were taken at the grave site of Ronald Dain. Sam asks if he exhumed the body and Jarod says, “Let’s just say I did a little digging.” Jarod says that he didn’t die of cancer. He says to look at the bone separation which is usually caused by an outward violent force… an explosion. Jarod says that it was also interesting that there is no calcification or wear and tear on the pelvic bone… and the body is only 63 inches tall (5’3″). Sam concludes that the body is that of a child. Sam looks in her files and sure enough Dain has a 13 yr. old son named… Joshua. They conclude that Dain was going to talk about “Project Hummingbird” and the rest of the team sent a mail bomb but Dain’s son got the mail that day. So, Ronald Dain is the killer… and he will kill Maxwell Creighton.

At VCTF, George says that there is no way to find Creighton but he did find an old DMV photo of him from the 70’s. He pulls it up and they age it. As they do, they all start to realize that it is looking more and more like Philip Banks, Bryce’s father.

Bryce/Joshua and Dain are at the cemetery at Dain’s sons grave. Bryce/Joshua is puzzled he thought that “Father” had lost his son to his work. He tells Bryce/Joshua that “they” took his son…. “they” took his life. He tells Bryce to become his son. Bryce/Joshua wants to know how. Dain give him his cell phone and tells him to phone home.

Philip and Nora Banks are preparing to flee, and Mr. Banks is getting a gun with a silencer ready. John sees this and goes around the house to the front. We see a bomb connected to their phone.

Dain is telling Bryce/Joshua to call home… press 1. Sam is there with other VCTF team members. Sam tells Bryce/Joshua that Dain is not his father. Dain tells Bryce/Joshua not to listen to Sam. Sam proceeds to tell Bryce/Joshua that the other Joshua’s are dead and Dain says that they served their purpose. Dain tells him that he is Joshua. Bryce goes to press the button. Sam tells him to think of his family. Dain tells Bryce/Joshua that he loves him. Sam tells Bryce/Joshua to look at what he (Dain) is doing… he is putting him between Dain and the VCTF… he is using you to protect himself. Dain tells him to forget them… forget them all… Bryce… press the button. Bryce starts to, but realizes that Dain called him Bryce and then throws the phone. Dain pushed Bryce out of the way and goes for the phone. Bailey stops him while Bryce is with Sam.

John arrests Philip Banks at the front door and Mr. Banks hands his gun over to John. Then John tells him that there is a bomb in his house. Philip Banks says that his wife is still in the house. John and a bomb squad unit go into the house. They get Nora Banks out and then disarm the bomb attached to the phone.

Sam and Bailey pull up to the house with Bryce. Bailey has Sam hold Bryce back and Bailey tells Philip Banks that he has to explain. A black car pulls up and Philip Banks says that he may not have to explain. Bailey talk to the spook and seems mad. Bailey comes back and lets Mr. Banks go and then Bryce is reunited with his parents. Sam watches as the Banks Family is carted away by the spooks. Sam sees a happy Jarod and they smile at one another.

At VCTF in Sam’s office, George enters saying that he found more information on Jarod… and that it is safe to say that his last name is not Doyle. He asks how she knew about the cemetery…. a hunch. George also says he found information about Jarod’s family.

Sam goes to Jarod’s place and finds it empty. Sam is disappointed and says, “Good-Bye, Jarod.” Sam walks out and closes the door behind her…. it fades to black.
