The French magazine Series TV prompted fans to show their support of The Pretender by saying they would publish a special issue of their magazine dedicated to The Pretender if they received at least 200 letters of support from people also promising to buy the issue. The fans response was 300 of these letters. The issue should be coming out in the next six months.

The Pretender is hitting DVD on December 2nd, but only in France. Apparently, Fox is testing the waters to see how the Pretender fans react. The DVD’s will have dubbed voices but will also have the English format; however, these are region 2 DVD and are not playable in the US on our region 1 DVD players. We will just have to wait for The Pretender to come to us!

I went to the Fox TV to DVD Poll to see what the current results were only to have a “This Page Can Not Be Found” message appear. Either Fox is having trouble or the poll is over and the results are as follows:

3) The Lone Gunman (16.7)

I am happy to report The Pretender is still in the number 1 spot. Of course, some of the other shows still baffle me but here is an up-to-date list of the top FIVE… even though the top five are the important ones.1) The Pretender (23.3)
2) Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (21.1)
3) The Lone Gunman (16.9)
4) The Wonder Years (14.1)
5) John Doe (11.8)I am considering only updating the current results every Monday until this poll closes with the exception of The Pretender slipping out of first or returning to first. I am only considering this. I may decide to just keep posting them. Spread the voting word!

Jamie Denton in Threat Matrix… a review.

  • Post published:September 19, 2003
  • Post category:from HQ

I am a Pretender fan. This may make me biased when it comes to its cast members but I did enjoyed Jamie Denton as Mr. Lyle. When I heard about Threat Matrix, I just kept thinking to myself, “Mr. Lyle as good guy?” I know Jamie’s an actor and not just Mr. Lyle, which I am happy to say he proved. I completely enjoyed Threat Matrix last night! I have a TiVo like device and had to record it for later in the evening but as I watched it, I became agitated that the ads were preventing me from seeing more of the story when I wanted to see it. Thank goodness for the fast foreword button. This is a one-hour show that I felt flew by too quickly, it may have been that edge of your seat feeling. I think and hope that ABC has another hit on their hands. It reminds me of Alias only more plausible and a little less all about me (i.e. Sydney). With too many new shows, it seems the first episode is all about introducing the characters and giving you a little information about them. I have never like this approach. I mean sure you want to know about the characters, but I always felt it is something you should learn over time. Threat Matrix didn’t go into this is so and so and so on. They opened with the team doing something that truly puzzles you. Then it is explained, and very well might I add (I actually laughed, kind of like when Jarod pulled off stuff). By the time the show ended, I couldn’t tell you what every characters job was but I knew enough… I know John Kilmer and his ex-wife Frankie Ellroy-Kilmer still care very much about each other and work well together. I know who Holly is (Do You?). I know who Mo, Tim, Jelani, and Anne Larkin are. Of course, there is that older man that I assume is Col. Roger Atkins, but I have yet to find out and I do plan on finding out. This show was well worth the 45 mins (fast forwarded threw ads remember) that I gave it. The concept is great, the cast is good together and the delivery was superb. Thanks again ABC! If you missed the premiere episode of Threat Matrix you can watch it this Sunday at 8pm on ABC.

Otherwise watch Threat Matrix on Thursday nights at 8pm on ABC…. yes across from Friends!

The Pretender Fans Fight for #1

  • Post published:September 18, 2003

The Pretender fans are fighting and all I can say is you are all awesome! I have to give credit where credit is due. The Pretender fans haven’t backed down and it looks to be paying off. Latest Results: #1 The Pretender (22.3) #2 Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (20.9) #3 The Lone Gunman (17.1) #4 The Wonder Years (15.4) #5 John Doe (11.6)I have to say this is a strange thing to see. I am so excited about The Pretender, but where in the world are the votes for Voyage coming from? I have never heard of this show though my mother tells me it was popular. The Lone Gunman, while they were funny on X-files, they didn’t do too well on their own but apparently they have a following. The Wonder Years is no surprise and it’s about time they come out. John Doe? I did like this show… reminded me of The Pretender, but it only ran for 13 episodes. I guess that would make it a cheap buy. The closest threat to John Doe is Roswell and The Simpsons who are tied for 6th place with 10.4 of the votes. The Simpsons are already coming out on DVD and I can’t foresee a reason why that wouldn’t continue. As for Roswell, the apparent attitude of the fans is “There supposed to come out anyway.” Still it would be nice to support your show.

Operation: Save The Pretender Will Fade To No More

According to Op-Stp they will be closing down their site in December of 2003. Op-Stp has played a large part of keeping The Pretender out there. They have been leading us towards more Pretender movies and merchandise since the end of the show in 2000. They also played a huge part in the fight to get movies out on TNT. They have been a blessing to the Pretender community and they will be missed.

Is There Still Hope For The Pretender?

  • Post published:September 12, 2003
  • Post category:from HQ

According to the Operation Save the Pretender Site there is still hope for a final movie. Nothing definite but it is a possibility. Here is what you should do to help make it happen…Take a bit of time out of your busy schedules and write FOX, TNT, and NBC to request a final movie. FOX owns a good chunk of the show, NBC owns part and TNT has their rights to the show. Send letters to all three to increase or chances of a movie. We also ask that you write FOX and request Pretender merchandise especially the Episodes and Movies released on DVD/VHS. They won’t do this unless there is a demand (in other words they want to know they will make money). FAQ Page has contact info for FOX, TNT, & NBC.

The Pretender To Come to DVD?

  • Post published:September 12, 2003
  • Post category:from HQ

According to the Futon Critic it is possible The Pretender could be coming to DVD & VHS.NBC Enterprises plans to bring 10 of its series to DVD by the end of 2003. They have already chosen several which have been released recently such as Will & Grace the first season, Kingpin, Saved by the Bell the first and second season, Saturday Night Live: 25th Anniversary Collection, and more. NBC hopes to release Crossing Jordan, Ed, and The Pretender. These are only title they are considering. Please note that the above information does NOT mean “The Pretender” is coming out on DVD. All it states is that NBC is talking to other DVD distributors. I apologize for any confusion. (Futon Critic Links added to home page)
